  • Since our community is filled with people (and pets) in need, we act on God’s calling to care for community by receiving donated non-perishable food and/or clothing.  Any time you bring donated items, we will ensure that the items are timely distributed to those in need.
    • Annually, our special food collections for hungry families in our community include:
      • Lotsa Pasta — We collect 1-lb containers of pasta, as well as non-glass containers of pasta sauce for Interfaith Community ServicesThe campaign runs February 1-28 and is focused on collecting noodles this year.  We have already begun receiving donated items.  Check out the narthex area of the sanctuary for our progress.
      • Peanut Butter Party — We collect 16-oz containers of peanut butter for Interfaith Community ServicesThe campaign runs July 1-31.
      • Protein Bag Partner — We collect 12-oz containers of animal- and fish-based protein for IMPACT of Southern Arizona.  The campaign that runs March 1-31.  We deliver the collected items at the end of March so that the protein can be distributed throughout the month of April.  We have been the April Protein Bag Partner for the past several years.  We have already begun receiving donated items.  The campaign is focused on collecting any type of shelf-stable beef, fish, pork, or poultry (e.g., canned roast beef, canned chicken chunks, any type of canned Spam, or canned or packaged tuna).  Check out the narthex area of the sanctuary for our progress.
    • Monthly, on “First is for Food” Sunday (the first Sunday of each month), we collect non-perishable food for both people and their pets.  This first Sunday of the month is also when we share communion during the worship service.  We are focused on ensuring that all of God’s people are fed.
    • Monthly, on “Third is for Threads” Sunday (the third Sunday of each month), we collect used clothing and shoes and new undergarments for men, women, and children of all sizes and ages.  Shoestrings are especially needed, as is business attire.
    • Monthly, Food Prep services are provided on the first Sunday of the month.  A group from the Mission Ministry Team of Mountain Shadows gathers at the commercial kitchen of Southside Presbyterian Church at 1:30 PM for about two hours.  The group preps a meal to be served the following morning to the Cross Streets Community guests.  The Mission Ministry Team purchases the raw ingredients being prepped for the meal.  Approximately 180-200 hungry people are fed a complete, homemade meal every Monday and Friday morning.
