- Pray to help end hunger — For the most current set of prayers on hunger distributed by Bread for the World that you can recite and internalize, click on the following link — Hunger_Prayers — 1-27-23.pdf.
- “First is for Food” — Food Donations — On the first Sunday of the month, food is collected for the Tri-Community Food Bank and servicing needy families in Oracle, San Manuel, and Mammoth in Pinal County. Much needed donations of non-perishable foods are requested and will be delivered by a volunteer from the church to the food bank mid-week.
- Food Prep at Cross Streets Community – This event occurs every month on the first Sunday beginning at 2:00 PM for about two hours. A group of 8-10 volunteers carpool to Southside Presbyterian Church to assist with prepping food to servie to the homeless the following week on Monday and Friday. Cross Streets Community is a multi-faceted program for homeless people in downtown Tucson. Meals are served on Monday and Friday mornings. Because of the need to limit the size of the food prep group, there is a sign-up sheet available during fellowship following in-person worship.
- “Third is for Threads” — Clothing Donations — On the third Sunday of the month, clothing is collected for Casa Alitas and Cross Streets Community and servicing needy families in Pima County. At this time of the year, warm clothing for needy people of all ages is in special demand. To supplement the donations from the congregation, members from the Mission Ministry Team will be scheduling a shopping trip specifically to purchase helpful items using funds from the Team’s budget.
- First and Third Sundays — Just Coffee Sales — You can purchase varieties of ground or whole bean coffee without paying the shipping costs. Just Coffee, a grower-owned cooperative based in southern Chiaas Mexico, was formed to address the poverty and migration from Mexico to the United
