Food Prep

On the first Sunday of each month, we provide food prep services for the “soup kitchen” beginning at 1:30 PM for about two hours. The prepped meal is then served the following Monday morning between 7:30 and 8:30 AM to the hungry population in southwest Tucson.  Usually, a group of 8-10 of our members carpool to the commercial kitchen housed in Southside Presbyterian Church.  Because of the need to limit the size of the prep group, there is a sign-up sheet available during fellowship following in-person worship.

Several of our members also participate in the preparation, serving, and clean-up of the breakfast meal each Monday and Friday morning.  These volunteers arrive at the kitchen as early as 5:00 AM. Cross Streets Community is a multi-faceted program for unhoused people.
